Caleb goes to school once a week at a co-op called Classical Conversations. It's been a huge blessing for our family! I haven't taken many pictures, but I snapped this cute one this week (with his good friend, Drew): - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Baseball

Also on Monday, Caleb started t-ball (practice). This is his first team, and he is super excited!! His first game is Saturday! But he has been wearing his uniform all week!! Even sleeping in it (I do wash it!)! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Gymnastics

Image
On Monday, Chloe started gymnastics (in our city sports league). She was the only person in the class, and in order for them not to drop the class, one more child had to enroll.....so Caleb joined her :). They're getting a private lesson, basically!! Next time, I'll take my good camera and get better shots!! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

The Big Announcement

Image
While we have not 100% decided, we are fairly certain we are naming our son Levi. I'm not going out and buying personalized items, but unless something major changes our minds, our 4th child will be Levi. His middle name is undecided....maybe Brett?! Levi Brett, maybe?! The way we came up with his name: All of our kids have Biblical names. While that was not on purpose (we just like their names), it is a fact. So we felt like we needed to stick with a Biblical name. I was looking at a list of boy Bible names, and Levi stood out to me! I shared it with Brett, and he asked me how I came up with it. He said he liked the sound of it but wanted to research the name a bit. While on a date waiting for a comedy show to start, I searched on my Bible app and found this: When we read this, both of us thought it was so cool (the part about her 3rd son being Levi!)! Levi means different things in different books but one meaning is "harmonious". Brett and I joke that, with 3 boys, harm

A Project

Image
One of the projects that I was able to do now that truly made such a huge difference was getting a bookshelf from Ikea that I've wanted for probably 5 years! Our anniversary is Sunday, and this is what I asked Brett to get me..... But first, the before: My anniversary gift: I'm in love!! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the top shelf yet! I'm deciding between displaying photo albums in storage (that I've never had room for), random decor items (which I don't really have much of), or filling in as I go with whatever speaks to me! Feedback is welcome :) The shelving unit is way bigger than my old shelf and fits the space WAY better! The boxes on the bottom aren't full (just two are), so those will store diapers, random toys, and anything else! One thing I love about my current house is that, compared to my other two homes, I have so much more useful storage (my basement in KS had lots of space but it was kinda a black hole and not very organized)....

Where I've Been

Earlier this week, Brett and I had the privilege of going to Alabama for a ministry conference. While the conference was great, getting away alone for a few days was what my soul needed (in a big way). Pregnancy and I aren't super good friends. While I am soooo thankful for my baby boy, I just don't like who I am when I'm pregnant! I'm grouchy and impatient :(. Getting away with just Brett really realigned my perspective. I realized some major parenting flaws....some negative patterns I started when I was super sick but haven't changed now that I'm feeling decent (I'm still not 100% but I'm definitely way better!!). I'm so glad my kids came home to a new mom!! I'm still pregnant so I'm not my usual self but I am much better than I was! Being away from home also allowed me to figure out some issues I have with my house. There are a lot of things I would love to do (new kitchen, replace flooring, add crown moulding, etc), but financially, those

Chloe's New PIece

Image
Last night, I painted a piece of furniture that was given to me by a friend. I forgot to take a before picture, but you can see part of it here . You cannot really tell, but the piece needed a fresh coat of paint. It did not look bad, but it did not look fresh. The rest of Chloe's room looks so fresh that I wanted to update it. It is hard to tell in the pictures below, but I painted it a light green. The bedding and decor is pink and green. While there are some pink accents, I don't have much green. She already has a lot of white pieces, so I wanted to add some color! I have to admit: when I buy paint on a whim, I NEVER get the correct color. But, for the first time ever, I did. Yay! I think I have painted enough that I am starting to see "the color behind the color" (which colors are hard to detect but you can pick up on in the different lighting, etc). Decorating doesn't come naturally, so I am excited to see I am progressing! Anyway, back to the furni

Lukey

We spent the morning and afternoon at a park today. It was too late when we arrived home for naps, so I let the kids watch a cartoon. Luke couldn't hang! He fell asleep on me :) Love this boy!! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Brett's Valentine

This was waiting for Chloe when we came home from (Caleb's) school today. I love how much her Daddy adores and loves his sweet princess!! Because my birthday was last week and our anniversary is in two weeks, we skip Valentines as a couple (because it's just gets to be too much)! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Chloe's Reaction

As it was well established, both Chloe and I thought I was having a girl. She had her heart set on it, so we knew it would not be easy to tell her! I had wanted to tell the kids in a really fun way what we were having, but my ultrasound appointment got really messed up....so we ran out of time to be able to do anything fun! My friend, Ty, was watching all three kids. When we got to her house, we gathered the kids and told them what we were having. Chloe dropped her head in sadness, crossed her arms, and walked away. It was so, so sad. A few minutes later, she returned and seemed to be doing better! Within a day, she had changed her attitude from sadness to true excitement. She kept calling the baby "her" for a day or two, but now, she treats her baby brother with as much love as she did when he was a "she" to her! She is so, so sweet to her brother already. She kisses him, talks to him, and asks me about him often! It is truly so sweet to watch her so in l

19.5 Week Ultrasound

Image
It's a boy! Yay!! The ultrasound was so fun. It is always so exciting and wonderful to see the preciousness that is growing inside of me! Before the tech even said anything, I thought I saw the boy part! With my ultrasound with Caleb, it looked so unexplainable to me, but now that I have had a few, I was surprised how well I could tell what each body part was and which way the baby was facing! I have more pictures than this, but these are the highlights :) His face: Yep, he's a boy (the picture isn't that clear, but it was VERY clear on the monitor) His cutie profile:

These pictures are from my first ultrasound, which I think was around 14 weeks: The profile: The face:

She Says

Chloe: That's stupid. Me: I don't want "stupid" to come out of your mouth again. Chloe: It has to stay in my mouth forever?? Chloe: "Mommy, how do you spell 'a real birdie in a small cage'?" Me: "Why?" Chloe: "I am writing the Easter bunny a letter, and that's what I am telling him to get me." Chloe and her friend are arguing. Chloe is telling her that she (Chloe) is the prettiest and most special girl. Her friend says God is the most special. Chloe continues to argue her side.

Chloe's Room

Image
Even though we are having a boy, he and Chloe will share a room. The boys' room is bigger, so eventually, the three boys may all share a room....but for now, Chloe really really wants the baby to be with her, so we changed her room to fit the crib. Truthfully, her queen bed was originally our guest room bed in Kansas (I didn't totally love it), and it was just way too big for the room. So even though she will most likely not share a room forever, I am really glad we redecorated her room! It looks SO much cuter, and she has way more space. I think I mentioned, my friend, Robyn, gave me all of the bedding (her girls redecorated their room over Christmas to older decor and gave me the old stuff...its all Pottery Barn and SO cute) and the wall decor to match!! She also gave me a furniture piece with baskets that perfectly completes the room! What a huge blessing! I am so thankful, and Chloe adores her girls, which makes her love her new room all the more! This is the before

Ruminations

So, we are having a boy. Because I was so sure we were having a girl, I obviously had to process the exciting news that baby #4 is, actually, a boy. First things first, I am so beyond excited. When I think of another hilarious, sweet, wild boy, my heart is overjoyed. There is not one part of me that wishes anything to be different. It is really weird to think I will not have another girl (though, if you ask Brett, our family is not complete....he was hoping news of a boy would change my mind, but it didn't! ha!). Though, as my mom so hilariously put it (before she knew the sex), "I think you're having a boy, because I really thought about it, and with Chloe's personality, I really don't think she can handle another girl". Brett and I definitely agreed that Chloe is enough girl for all the boys! Yesterday, when we got home from the doctor, I let Chloe go through my infant girl clothes to pick out stuff for her baby dolls (before I pass the rest on to so

Three Boys and A Babe

(Who remembers the Star Search child dance crew Four Boys and A Babe?? They were my favorite!) Anyway.... In dreaming about my sweet boy, I have weighed the pro's and con's to Chloe being our one and only girl. This is a stupid list, but for my own memory, I thought I'd share it. Pro's: - a girl with 3 brothers and an overprotective dad is not likely to get many dates. When people asked me how Chloe reacted to the news of a boy (I will post about that later) and mention they feel bad for her, I joke the person they should feel bad for is the guy she marries. Can you imagine the torture he'll have to endure?? - having only one girl will make for a precious mother-daughter bond, I hope - I bet it's kinda fun to have all brothers...I mean, is there a more spoiled, protected girl on the planet than one with lots of brothers? - no one wants to play with her toys (she has a very close friend that helps her learn to share, so she, hopefully, will learn to share st
