Taking Advice

My friend, Robyn, is an amazing mom of four kids. Her youngest is 2, so she has enough experience to give good advice but is still in the trenches to offer lots of compassion! That is a rare but delightful combination. A few weeks ago, I was starting to have a lot of anxiety about the number of weeks remaining in my pregnancy. I just did not know how I was going to endure it! (thankfully, with the end in sight--just over 6 weeks-- I'm doing much better). I shared this with Robyn, and her advice is to set up things to look forward to in the remaining weeks. Great advice!! This weekend, Brett and I are sending our kids to his parents. We are going to stay home and relax in the comfort of our own home! I am so excited! While they're away, I'm going to redeem a gift certificate I got for Christmas (purposely saving it for now) at a spa for a massage, manicure, and pedicure. I have one girl night scheduled and will plan a few more. In two weeks, I have a hair appointment to touc

Cozy

I like being cozy. I love staying inside on a rainy day. I love comfy, welcoming beds. I love warmth on a cold night (a rarity in my part of the world). I love coming home from a date with my man, taking off my cute clothes, and putting on my house clothes. I just love being cozy. Something recently has made my life even cozier. My amazing first born son, Caleb, loves being cozy too!! Last night, we had company, so he slept in Chloe's room. For some reason, he chose the floor (a bed was an option). He said this morning "I can't wait to sleep in my cozy bed tonight". Or on Saturday, it was pouring rain. He said, "let's get cozy and watch a movie." It is such a silly thing, but I love how he has adopted a love for being cozy :) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Clean?

Chloe is not my cleanest child. I asked her to clean her room, and after a long time, she declared it super clean. This is the after... Pray for me, hahaha! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

The Keys

Image
When Caleb saw this sunset, he said, "it is awesome. I love you, God." I have it on video (he was filming the sunset with my mom's phone), and it may be my most favorite parenting moment ever! Nesting....

My nesting instincts have not yet kicked in yet.....maybe I am not far enough along or maybe I am just way too tired....either way, I have not started nesting.  But, in the last few days, I have started daydreaming of small home projects, so I am wondering if nesting will happen shortly :).   I love the nesting phase.  Brett refers to it as "the usual me on steroids" because I always love a good home project and constantly look for ways to improve our home.  Because it is so my nature, when people never make any changes to their home ever, I just cannot understand that!  I love changing things up.  The people in our home church playfully tease me each week about what has changed since the last time they were there.   Anyway, here are some projects I am entertaining (I have some major home projects, but those are far down the road, financially speaking):  - fix doorknobs in our house (actually, I just finished this but it was on my list, so I wanted to include it).  T

The Keys

Last Friday, my parents called to tell me they decided to come to the Florida Keys the next day.  Brett was out of town for the weekend, so this made me super excited!  They are so spontaneous, and it was such a wonderful surprise to not spend my weekend alone with just my kids. The trip was absolutely so refreshing.  My parents were so helpful with my kids, and they cooked (or bought us) every meal.  It was glorious! Being away from home for a few days in a beautiful environment refreshed my soul.  My parents' house in the Keys is absolutely beautiful....right on the water.  It is heavenly. I am so glad they came at just the right time!  Not only was I so refreshed and blessed, but I had so much fun.  I felt like a child who just needed their Mommy or Daddy, but it is true...just being around them for a few days was just what this girl needed! I have a few pictures (very few, I decided, instead, to soak up the moments rather than capture them) that I will post later from m

Because No One Actually Asked

I am 32 weeks pregnant, so I suppose I shall update you all on my pregnancy. To give an accurate description of where I am at, I shall directly quote something Brett told his friend, "I have always wanted five children, but after seeing Sarah go through this pregnancy and the toll it's taken, I cannot in good faith ask her to get pregnant again."  (For the record, I am not saying my family is complete, but I do believe my biological family is complete. Adoption is definitely on the table.....down the road.) This pregnancy has been really hard.  People (namely my friend, Ashlie) have had much more difficult pregnancies, but as mine go, this one has been rough.  You know that feeling you have the last 2-3 weeks of pregnancy....where you feel like the world might end, you are so big you can barely move, and sleeping is a distant memory?!?!  I have been there since about week 30.  When I think of having 7 more weeks, I get pretty overwhelmed. I just am not myself, and t

Laughs

I love these new cards that make me laugh! Brett jokingly sent this one to me: I found this one...it definitely describes my 30-weeks pregnant life :) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Marry Dress

Image
A couple of days ago, we randomly watched our wedding video. Our kids were so into it; it was so cute watching them watch it!! They kept asking if they were there! Ever since Chloe has been asking if she can wear my "marry dress". So I let her! She enjoyed it and asked if she could "wear it everyday when she's a teenager". I used to love wearing my mom's dress, so this was a fun moment! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

CC Graduate

Caleb has officially completed his first year of CC! He has also finished his Kindergarten curriculum, which is exciting. He will still do math and learn to read for awhile, but otherwise, he is done! It has been a great year! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Easter

Image
Easter was such a wonderful holiday!! We first had church at our house, celebrating our wonderful risen Lord Jesus!! Our church is about 5-6 families, and they are all so awesome! We are so fortunate to have such a great group. Afterwards, the kids had an Easter egg hunt (which they loved), then we had a big potluck lunch with everyone. Easter is probably one of my most favorite holidays. The joy surrounding it, focusing on the price Jesus paid, and celebrating that He is ALIVE is such an awesome time. I am so thankful to know Jesus personally and thankful He continually changes people's lives! Sarah Winstead made really awesome eggs that the kids smashed on each other and the ground. I have never done this before, but it was so fun!

Gymnastics

Image
Caleb and Chloe participated in gymnastics the last six weeks. Caleb enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. Chloe absolutely LOVES gymnastics...she does cartwheels, rolls, and handstands constantly throughout the day :). When she grows up, she wants to be a "gymnastics girl". Both kids learned a lot, and their teacher was fantastic!! A few different people have commented on how Chloe is naturally talented at gymnastics, so I imagine she will continue to participate in it (though we are taking a break from all sports--once baseball is over-- until after this baby arrives)!

Caleb's School

Image
Caleb completed 24 weeks of Classical Conversations last week. It was such a fun year!! Each week, he had a science project, an oral presentation, math, Latin, grammar, and history memory work. His class was great, and he learned so much! Giving his presentation:
