Happy Birthday, Chloe

Image
This beautiful girl turned 7 earlier this month.  Even though she really misses being six, she is having a good year so far :). Chloe is everything that is girly.  She loves nail polish, Barbies, cheerleading, squealing, dolls, friends.  She loves to talk and is constantly dreaming up new business ideas....I am amazed at how entrepreneurial she is.  Chloe is super creative.  She will turn any piece of trash into art (which I think actually represents who she is.....she sees the treasure in everyone....she is quick to see the good and doesn't see the bad).  Anytime she plays with a friend, she always makes them a surprise. This girl is always thinking of what others want.  She tells me what all of her friends want for their birthdays (and asks if she can get it for them).  I love that about her. Chloe is adventurous, spirited, hilarious, sweet, independent, full of life, and just so much fun. She brings so much joy to our days, and we adore our girl more than words could e

Chloe's Birthday

Image
For Chloe's 7th birthday, she opted not to have a party.  Instead, I took her shopping to buy some toys of her choosing.  We had a blast having a girlie day!!  She loves to give gifts to her friends, but she had a hard time finding toys for herself. On her actual birthday, she woke up to this.  She crawled out the bottom, so she wouldn't mess it up.  Love her. Chloe requested her gifts be placed at the foot of her bed to have when she woke up (princess much?? LOL).  I obliged. Her gifts are wrapped in Christmas paper.  I am trying to "live on less", so this is the goofy result.  (Also her gifts were awesome finds....a $6 foot bath on clearance and a Melissa and Doug doll house from the thrift store for $8). Rosa took Chloe out on a fun date for her birthday....to paint pottery.  Chloe LOVED it! Taylor gave Chloe these puzzles for her birthday..... ....and brought over her dogs for Chloe to play with (Chloe was in HEAVEN). Rosa

31 Day Challenge

I am considering participating in The Nester 's 31 Day Writing Challenge ....on Family Life....for the month of October.   The challenge is the write for 31 days straight.  If you notice, it's hard for me to write much at all these days.  The sole reason for my blog has always been to chronicle my family's life.  My older kids and I love to re-read through my blog (I print it out at   blog2print.com  each year)....and laugh about things they did and said....that I have long forgotten about. I do not consider myself a writer.  I consider myself someone who occasionally gets an idea for a blog that I feel needs to be said (or just to make people laugh....because we could all use more humor in our lives).  So to write for 31 days straight will be a bit of a stretch. Family Life is my passion.  I am very thankful for bloggers and all of the amazing things I've learned over the years.  The blogging platform is really cool, and I love it for many reasons.  But I've

I Am Living In A Frat House

Image
I posted on Facebook that living with four children and living in a frat house are practically the same thing.  Wonder if I am exaggerating? I actually have only been in a frat house probably once in my life, but I can just assume what they're like. Side story: Brett was asked to join a frat in college, so he went to one meeting.  I act like he was the president and very involved in it.....which he loves.  I even made up a chant for the frat.  For some reason, we really like to exaggerate each other's past life experiences. Brett will tell complete strangers that I was the prom queen at a high school I did not even attend, and that the only reason I even won was because all of the other contestants were pregnant. I don't know why we do this, but we both seem to find it very entertaining. (I also often ask him what it's like to come from the harsh streets....because he made the mistake of mentioning to me once that there were gangs in his hometown....in re
