It's Too Late to Apologize

I really like that song by One Republic, but I do need to make a public apology. A little late. I recently printed off my blog...like on a real website, not just my home printer (which I had been doing). There are a few things I noticed about my blog. 1. I need to apologize for my terrible errors. I never proofread my blog...mostly because I write in a hurry or when I am tired, so I am just rushing to get done. I actually did pass English in school, so please forgive my many many errors. (The following are observations, not apologies) 2. I am SO glad I blog. There are so many things that I would not have otherwise remembered. I know my blog is mostly about my children, and most people are not entertained. But I really love looking back through old posts! 3. The printed off blog looks like a yearbook, which made me think of a lot of high school memories. Which has nothing to do with blogging, really. 4. My kids love looking through the blog book. They love seeing themselve

What A Difference A Year Makes

It seems that I have been repeating the phrase "what a difference a year makes" over and over. Last summer, we barely took our kids to the pool because neither of them liked the water. They might have put their feet in, but that was about the extent. I was pregnant and very sick with Luke and had a painful hernia, so I did not work too hard to overcome that fear. You may remember one day awhile ago when Caleb woke up and declared, "I am not afraid anymore" (the same day I had had a dream of overcoming fear). Ever since then, he has seriously been so much braver. He used to be quite timid, but he is not anymore. Occasionally, if he does not want to do something, he will say, "I'm too shy to do that," even if what I asked has nothing to do with being shy. Back to my point.... I took all three kids to a pool today. I recently read somewhere that you should not let having 3 (or more) children keep you from going on outings with kids. I do not min

Chloe, oh sweet, Chloe

When I post things about my kids on Facebook, people say I should write a book. I imagine every child says funny things, but I do have to admit that my children make me laugh a lot! Chloe has recently been quite comical (not on purpose). A few nights ago, I went to check on her before I went to bed. She was not awake but was talking to me. She said, "Caleb is Swiper (from Dora) because this morning, he swiped chocolate cake." Caleb had definitely swiped cake earlier that day! Yesterday, Chloe was changing into her swimsuit, as she does about 6 times every day. And just as she does most of the time with bikinis, she put it on backwards. Her chest was not entirely covered up, and she said to me, "Finally, my nipples are not stuck in it." While driving around town recently, Chloe told me, "I don't like your mom hair." I did look busted, so she does have a keen sense of style. LOL! Not only is she hilarious, but she is also so precious. Last

One on One Adventures

Spending one-on-one time with our children is very important to both Brett and me. Though we want a big(ish) family, we value individual time with each of our kids. We call them "Daddy Adventures" and "Mommy Adventures". Back in Kansas, Caleb always opted to go with Daddy to the "fish store" (Bass Pro Shops). Chloe always chose to go to Starbucks (for a cookie) then to Petland to look at animals. I would typically stay home with the other child and spend quality time with them....while taking care of Luke. Fortunately for Caleb, Bass Pro is right up the street from our new house, so that is still his place of choice. Tonight, as Brett and Caleb were leaving for their Daddy Adventure, Brett told Caleb, "You are the best boy." Caleb replied, "I know that, Dad. God tells me all the time." All of the parenting in the world cannot replace when God Himself speaks to our children. Some people may doubt it, but children have not been

We're Not In Kansas Anymore

Before moving to south Florida, I was told many times, "it is just a different world." I knew that, but I did not know that . I know weird things will one day become my new normal, but for now, I am a Kansas transplant that still takes notice of things that are out of the ordinary. (My previous residence in Florida included Tallahassee, which is way different from where we live now). Some of the weird happenings from my first two weeks as a Floridian: - I saw a guy get arrested while sitting at a stoplight. - At a big box store, a woman was trying to argue the price of an item. She felt it was priced too high, but the cashier was not budging. The woman created quite a scene. - While waiting in line viewing this scene, the woman behind me kept telling me she thought she should be in front of me because she "was really in line before me, but she was looking at stuff near the check out". (She was not, in fact, there before me. No matter how you look at it). -

Welcome To My New Blog

Welcome to my new blog!! My family and I recently relocated to south Florida from Overland Park, Kansas. Because July has been the month of change for me, I decided to change my blog to a new location. The real reason for the change is that my old blog (sew56.wordpress.com) looked so blah! I wanted to spice it up a bit. Also, I printed off my blog, and I plan to do so again....and it's easier to just start fresh! My blog is called "Raising World Changers" because I truly believe I am raising children who will change the world for Jesus. As I go through the days, I try to keep that at the forefront of my mind: these sweet little ones will one day be radical followers of Christ. The dailyness of life is hilarious and fun (and sometimes long and tiring), and I want to always remember the joys of my children's younger days. I have three children: Caleb, Chloe, and Luke. They make me smile often during the day, and being a wife and mom is the BEST job on earth. M
