Levi- 4 months

Image
Levi is four months today!  Yay! He is still such a sweet baby.  He loves to be held and only cries when I put him down.  Levi sleeps well, often sleeping from 8pm-4am.  Sometimes more, sometimes less.  No complaints in the sleep department, though.  He takes a pacifier to sleep but falls asleep pretty easily. His stats: -height: 26.5" (95%) - weight: 17 lbs 3 oz (95%) The doctor said, "Every family has a giant, and he is yours."  We shall see :).  He seems to favor Brett more than any other kid.

Life Gets In The Way

Someone around the blogosphere is hosting an event where you write about something for 31 days in the month of October.  I had really good intentions to write about 31 things I have learned since having children.  We are only three days in, and life just keeps getting in the way of me writing this life-changing serious (I kid...about the life-changing part).  I decided to paint my kitchen (technically, that was in September).  Then I decided to makeover our office.  Then I had a ministry newsletter to write.  Oh yeah, I also have these four children who have needs and wants (and are much cuter than a computer screen). I realized I am not in a season of life where I have time to think about deep things.  It takes all I have to stay afloat right now.  People, you should see my laundry.  Laundry for six people is not for the faint of heart.  And the minions are messy.  I still hate to cook.  Especially for children who think eve...

Baby Levi

Sometimes you just need some good chunky snuggle time.....fortunately, my baby is happy to oblige.  Seriously, can he be any cuter??  This boy is chatty and loves to laugh.  I adore him.

If I Go Gray Early, This Is Why

Caleb recently learned the word "balls" (as in, you know, boy parts).  He uses the word more often than I would like, but Chloe has NO clue what it means.  So she uses the word a lot, except she totally misuses it.  I try to correct her, but she is five and knows everything now, so she will not be corrected. She also has her first crush.  On a 22 year old guy.  (Side note: Jesus, please return soon.) That's beside the point.  Except while I am still on the point:  She casually asked me the other day (while twirling her hair), "Would it, like, be cool if I invited Brannen to my basketball game?"  (She normally refers to him as Mr. Brannen, so apparently, her teenage-acting self was too cool for manners.)  (Side note: Jesus, please return soon.) Anyway, Chloe does not know what "balls" are (excuse the word, I hate that word).  However, she knows the part actually exists.  She calls them "Luigi's".  I have no idea why. ...

Playroom Becomes An Office

Image
When we first moved into our house, we decided to use one of the bedrooms as an office-playroom. Our ministry is based out of our house, so Brett and I both utilize the office space on a very consistent basis (him more than me). This year, I decided to change our front living room to a homeschool room (which is not beautiful, but it is functional). In the process, the office-playroom has become mostly just used for an office. The kids love the space of the front living room, and I think Brett enjoys having the office available anytime he needs it. The office closet still houses toys and things, but the room is no longer a playroom (the kids are obviously allowed to play in it; they just usually choose not to!).   The original playroom-office was decorated more like a playroom. When we bought our house, I was new to Pinterest and very inspired to create a fun space for my kids . As it turns out, the decor was not really that inspiring. My kids couldn't care less what i...

Kitchen Makeover

Image
I have issues. I really enjoy changing my home around, and when Brett is gone, I use that time to do something fun to my house! Once I have my house "just right", maybe I will stop with my projects. Luckily that's a distant dream for it to look as I envision (unless I win the lottery that I don't play)! I've never liked my kitchen color, but it wasn't awful. I found the color on Pinterest but the picture was labelled wrong...so the color I got wasn't what I wanted. Brett went to Tampa yesterday to watch the FSU game with his cousin and friend. I searched through my paint cans and realized I had almost an entire gallon of leftover bedroom paint. I love my bedroom paint color, so I decided it would be a free fun makeover for my kitchen! I spent all of Saturday night painting. Caleb and Chloe helped a little bit (when they would venture out of bed), and they loved that!! I am so much happier with the color, and I feel like it gives my house more continuity. I...

Humility

Humility, oh humility, how I do not like to learn your lesson. The last 2-3 weeks can be summed up in one world: humility. It all started a few weeks ago.  In a group of people, I was laughing hysterically about a time when Brett fell while mopping the floor.  I shared how anytime I laugh at someone's expense (he was in the conversation), I always reap what I sow. And, boy, did I. About 5 days later, Brett and I had just returned home from a date (our first without Levi!). Long story short, we were chatting with the babysitter.  I went to put Levi to bed and stepped on an item on the floor...and while holding Levi, took a bad fall.  Because I was trying to protect him, I landed really hard on my shoulder.  My shoulder is still jacked up :(. Then, a few days ago, I slipped AGAIN.  This time on water in the kitchen.  It hurt my knee pretty bad. Humility. Then, a few days ago, I wrote a goofy post about my love of media and my dislike for readi...
